Gilgamesh is the oldest know story, dating from not long after the invention of writing. This is not a fresh translation, rather it is an attempt to tell the story clearly using the work of many previous laborers. Nothing - no incidents or descriptions - has been left out.
Nothing has been added. Gilgamesh become comprehensible. The presentation; book design and illustrations make this the best way to read Gilgamesh. The clay bas reliefs by Don Denton are done in the Sumerian idiom and must be seen to be believed.
